I am not a huge fan of Harry Potter, but I have never missed any episode of the movie series (as to the books themselves, I still have not touched
The Order of the Phoenix). Amongst the first four books, The Prisoner of Azkaban is my most favourite, so is its
movie version.
Coming to the third in the series, all the novelty seems to have faded out in the eyes of the audience. Luckily, director
Alfonso Cuaron, who is also new to the series in place of Chris Columbus (still being the producer), realised the problem, and thus skipped / fast-forwarded some of the repetitive scenes like the
quidditch match and how Harry spent the summer vacation.
The characters were treated the same way. Except the trio, some familiar characters like Professor McGonagall, Hagrid, and even Headmaster Dumbledore (now played by Michael Gambon filling the loss of the late
Sir Richard Harris) have given way to the newcomers like Sirius Black (played by the brilliant
Gary Oldman) and Professor Lupin (Emma Thompson's Professor Trelawney is
not worth discussing though). Still, the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite, probably because of its darker theme and story.
I am not eager to see the
Triwizard Tournament in the
Goblet of Fire, but the appearence of
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named shall be worth the wait for the 4th episode.
A lot of bloggers have talked about this movie. There is no other movie (except perhaps 2046) can invoke so much feedback recently. I watched the prequel Before Sunrise on TVB Pearl several years ago (it was only shown after midnight). I forget the details in the prequel. Surprisingly, this makes Before Sunset more interesting as I did not have answers to some of the questions Jesse and Celine was arguing (like whether they had sex 9 years ago).
If a person is stuck in a difficult situation for too long, will he get accustomed to it and not want to change? I think this is exactly what has happened to Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who is widely known as "Sir Alfred".
It is finally released. I bought it from a shop opposite to my office (HK$395). Alex told me that shops in Wanchai were selling it at $430.
A great thriller. It is difficult for me to put it down once I started it. The story opened with a murder inside the Louvre Museum. The victim was the curator of the museum who had left some kind of puzzle. The puzzle led to another, which in turns lead to another and finally to the biggest secret in history.
I cannot wait for 5 more months!
I bought a Sharp GX series mobile phone again, a GX-32. This new phone was put on the market by Smartone on Tuesday. I missed the first shipment and got the phone on Wednesday. Quite a lot of people are interested in this phone, and the waiting list is long at every Smartone outlet.
I finished the game in normal mode last night. My character was a necromancer (magic-users are easier to play in this action RPG series) who found his lost memory back during the course of adventure.
