The Terminal Man

If a person is stuck in a difficult situation for too long, will he get accustomed to it and not want to change? I think this is exactly what has happened to Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who is widely known as "Sir Alfred".

The Terminal Man is the story of Sir Alfred, who has been staying at Terminal 1 of the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris since 1988. He spent his adolescent life in Iran, then went to England for university. Before finishing his study, he had to return to Iran and was imprisoned by the secret police there. He was later exiled from Iran, and somehow "lost" his identification documents. Since then, he has been staying in the Charles de Gaulle Airport.

He's got a lot of help, firstly from different people working at the airport, like Dr. Bargain of the medical centre, and later from a lawyer Mr. Christian Bourguet who fought for Sir Alfred in various arena. But still, Sir Alfred remains at the airport.

Sir Alfred's story inspires the movie The Terminal, starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. But Sir Alfred does not know who they are.
