Less than HK$4,000 for a Mac!
I am not kidding. Besides iPod shuffle, Apple also announced Mac mini today. Again, there are 2 models: one with a G4 CPU of 1.25GHz and a 40GB hard disk, whilst the "high-end" model has 1.42GHz and 80GB. Both models have a combo drive, various I/O ports and quite a few software.
But $4000 is way too low, right? Yes, that's why keyboard, mouse and monitor are not included, nor the wireless network card. If you get all those items from Apple store, you will spend an additional HK$8940. But you can use the non-Apple products, can't you?
The most important thing is obviously the design, especially the its compact size (16.51cm x 16.51cm x 5.08cm). I don't think any barebone PC can compete with that.
What's next? a "less than HK$6000" iBook?
i already saw the flyers for the Mac mini at New Vision Tech in TST yesterday. the 40GB version will sell for hk$3900 and the 80GB version for hk$4800. the manager said they will have in stock before the end of the month. that's impressive.
ReplyDeleteYes, the expected shipping date is 29 Jan (according to the Apple online store).
